Our neurosurgeon-focused initiatives create opportunities for specialists to share their expertise, for surgeons to speak openly about the human side of their work, and for CBC to better understand the culture and challenges of neurosurgery itself.

We cannot bridge the gap between patients and neurosurgeons without listening to both sides.

Listening before trying to solve.

Bridge Discussion is a 75–90 minute clinician-only roundtable designed to help CBC understand what it is actually like to become and be a neurosurgeon.

Surgeons and residents from different institutions and career stages discuss what helps them thrive, what wears them down, what neurosurgery culture gets right, what makes the work unnecessarily difficult, and where recurring problems exist.

A protected resident-only breakout creates space to discuss the things that may be harder to say when senior physicians are in the room. Themes can be brought back to the larger discussion without identifying individual residents. 

This is a discovery session, not a solution session. CBC listens first, looks for patterns, and then determines where, if anywhere we may realistically be able to help.   

The Chiari Specialist Series

I’m Listening! gives the Chiari community the opportunity to hear directly from the specialists who understand and treat the condition.

The series explores Chiari diagnosis and treatment, research, surgical decision-making, recovery, overlapping conditions, patient advocacy, and the challenges specialists see within the field.     

But it also goes beyond medicine — asking specialists about trust, their careers, the future of neurosurgery, lessons their patients have taught them, and even who they are outside of their white coat. 

It gives specialists the opportunity to speak for themselves — and patients the opportunity to truly listen.

Meeting the person behind the surgeon.

Where Voices Meet! explores a side of neurosurgery patients rarely get to see.

These conversations ask surgeons about the moments that matter to them, how patients affect them, the emotional weight of their work, grief after difficult outcomes, sacrifice, vulnerability, burnout, and what it means to carry the expectation of always being the strongest person in the room.

It is an opportunity to set aside the title for a moment and meet the human being carrying it.

Because surgeons are people, too.
